Dear Prime Minister,

I are writing to you because I think you should know about the amazing program at our school called Garden to Table. Garden to Table is a fantastic way for kids to learn about plants and develop cooking skills.

In each session, half of the group goes in the garden and half stays in the kitchen. In the garden we learn about plants, how to care for them so when you go home you can plant your own fruit and vegetables. Also, teach your family how to look after a garden.

In the kitchen we learn all kinds of skills like how to use a knife without cutting yourself. It also helps with your reading skills because you have to read the recipe very carefully. One time a group read the recipe wrong and put to much salt in some muffins. They weren't that nice.

We make all kinds of foods that we might not eat at home like banana skin muffins, tofu or green smoothies. Most people thought that they were going to be disgusting but they were really nice.  We also use the eggs from the chickens at our school and the honey from our bees in our cooking. The chickens names are Dusty, Ginger Ninja, Betsy and Violet.

I think the skills that are learnt in garden to table are as important than the traditional maths, reading and writing. I think other school should have the same opportunity to have Garden to Table at their school. I hope you can help them with it just saying it would be amazing if you came to our school and you can try some of our food.

Yours sincerely,

Bruno
